A nice pen by a small company

The Method Fountain Pen seems to be the first fountain pen made by the company. It is very well precision machined, has no sharp edges etc., and sports a fine German Schmidt nib, which is available in fine, medium and broad. The cap does post securely, but this does throw off the balance slightly, so that the pen is better used unposted, where it is excellently balanced for my taste. My very first impression, that the nib may slightly be scratchy was very quickly diffused. When filled with ink (Diamine), it was smooth as butter, laying down a nice wet line. The design of the pen is minimalistic and it is available in black, brass and stainless steel. Since I already have a few brass pens I opted for the stainless steel version, which really is very nice. There are just two minor points that could possibly be improved: (i) the section is rather slick and some machined grooves to help the grip would help, especially for longer writing sessions. (ii) the octagonal cap looks very nice and feels well when playing around with the pen during boring meetings, but unfortunately, it does not act as a roll stop. Overall, the pen is a really nice addition to my collection from a not so well known manufacturer. I feel that the price point of £130 is at the higher side, especially when keeping in mind that for example the Kaweco Liliput (brass) comes in at half the price. But OK, small manufacturers should be supported and with the Method Fountain Pen one will get a pen which is not carried by everyone.

Pleasure to write with.

A second pen purchased from And hand and just a good as the first. This one is a little heavier but well balanced and good for writing for longer periods. I enjoy the understated design and beautiful finish.
